The Loreto Schools are a group of all-girl Roman Catholic schools throughout the world associated with the Sisters of Loreto and run by Loreto Educational Society (Loreto sisters), which in India runs 17 schools and 2 colleges. They originated in Ireland in the 1850s so as to combat the growing Protestant influence in English education in the then British-controlled Ireland. Its chief purpose was to ensure Catholic education for Irish Catholic girls. It spread to India and Australia in the 1870s. In Kolkata, India, Loreto schools are located at 7 Middleton Row (Loreto House - the largest of the group), Sealdah, Entally, Bowbazar, Elliot Road and Dharmatala. There are Loreto schools in other cities across India including Darjeeling, Delhi, Lucknow (having two) and Asansol. The schools engage in charitable activities and on academic and all-round development of the students.
I disagree with Mrs.Anshika Basu for false accusing the concern teacher,Mrs.Ganguly,she's a very good teacher and is caring and concerned toward the needs of every students be it the bright ones or the not so bright ones. With just one exceptions among all the teachers,I'd say the worst one I'd come across and anyone can actually cross path with is none other then Mrs.T.Chakraborty, she's just too personal and incase any students happen to mess or make any one of her favourite student unhappy,then Mrs.T.Chakraborty makes sure to make the lives of those students a hell in all possible manners by degrading and insulting the girls in whichever way possible.Very unprofessional as a teacher and I feel she is somewhat lacking understanding power. Also as a parent we need to make it a point that more then school teaching the teachings at home is the most important and not to listen to and react to everything our ward tells us. Loreto was and is the best,for all my daughters and sisters and others have passed out from Loreto.

My home! Memories of this institution beats everything else. The teachers are wonderful souls, and the friendships i formed in that school are going strong still. Personally i believe it's the enormous importance given to the values and disciplines at Loreto is what makes it so special. At this point I'm pretty much quoting lyrics from the Loreto chorus, but my, was everyone right! As boring as it was singing it ever so often, i miss it very desperately now. To the point i scoured YouTube only recently hunting for the Loreto chorus, because a pang of nostalgia had just hit me hard. As I'm writing this, my heart is fluttering of nervousness and excitement, what if i accidentally write horrendous grammar. As a Loretoite, you learn to carry yourself, take responsibility of your actions, and learn to be a humane person with indomitable value system and morales. Loreto forms characters, while still regarding academics, extracurriculars and emotional health of the children equally highly. Fondly remembering all the teachers who raised me, and my friends who tolerated me, Loreto is a fundamental and dear part of my life.
