Koilamari tea estate is located in 12 km north from North Lakhimpur town. This tea estate is distributed in the both side of Joying River, eastern part is called as Koilamari tea garden and the western part is called as Joying tea garden. In the western border of the estate Ranga river is flowing and also surrounded by hills of Arunachal Pradesh. Total area of the tea estate is 1244 hector and only 837.96 hector areas is used for tea plantation. 9 The tea estate was established in late 18th century by British government. At present MK Shah Limited is the owner of the garden. The company acquired this garden from Rossell Industries in 1999. 10Before 1999 Rossll India Tea Limited managing the garden for many decades. Premium quality tea is producing in here. An estate with quality mark, it enjoys the best of climatic conditions on the foothills of Arunachal Himalaya. Both CTC and Orthodox tea is produced here with the help of 1600 permanent worker. Step by step irrigation facility is being installing in the garden. Electric supply, medical facility is provided by the tea authority to its workers.New technologies like CTC Machines, Continuous Fermenting Machines (CFMs) and Dryers have helped Koilamari improve the quality of teas. A new saturated turbine, producing captive power to meet the estate’s total electricity needs, is under installation. The garden is full of natural beauty, its beauty increase with British made bunglows and golf court. The estate has a blend of seed and quality clone plantation, which has helped in production of consistently high standard CTC and Orthodox teas. Today, Koilamari is considered a jewel in the crown of the company.
