National Water Development Agency (NWDA) is an Indian premier Central Government Agency under the Ministry of Water Resources River Development and Ganga rejuvenation ( MoWR, RD & GR). It is entrusted with the work of preparation of DPR for Interlinking of Inter-State & Intra-State rivers in India. The basic work of Water Balance Study, PFR & FR also is carried out by NWDA. Established in 1983, it is now facing a problem of ageing. Majority of its senior technical staff is retiring in two three years. New buffer staff at JE level is to be recruited urgently to avoid any void in the coming days. 31 ILR project are identified out of which 16 are Himalayan and 15 are peninsular river linking projects. Futuristic projects of NWDA are necessary for the future Water needs of India.
