Patna University was established in 1917 during the British Raj. Patna University is an esteemed educational institution located in the capital city of Bihar. The first university to be established in the state, Patna University is also amongst the oldest universities in India. Patna University offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral level programmes to cater to diverse requirements. Patna University has 31 postgraduate departments in the faculties of Science, Social Sciences, Humanities, Education, Commerce, Law, and ten constituent colleges, apart from Patna Medical College and Patna Dental College in the Faculty of Medicine, there are four Institutes. Patna University has also started the Faculty of Fine Arts, which is located on the campus of the College of Arts & Crafts. Furthermore, the Population Research Centre is working in the Department of Statistics with the assistance of the Ministry of Health and Family Planning, Government of India. It is a Centre for Population Studies & Publication Health.
