It is an ancient sacred river at Chandpur village now known as Tarapith in Birbhum , West Bengal . The famous " Sidhha Pith " Tarapith & the " Mahasamsan " means funeral ground is standing beside the river . It is said that the great muni Vashistha son of Brahma achieved the highest religious target & got " Ma Tara " . In the event of Koushiki Amavasya many pilgrims are taken their holy dip in the Dwaraka and worship Ma Tara . There are many hotel & lodges at Tarapith and its rent is very reasonable . Tarapith is well connected with Kolkata by road & railway services .
