Absolutely lovely place to stay. You truly feel like you've come to a new world. You can buy tibetian artifacts, eat street food, enjoy roof top cafes, cuisine from almost anywhere in the world in some capacity, visit monasteries, trek, whatever you feel like. The locals are very sweet and helpful. Hardly any crimes happen. Carry only cash here though. There aren't very many people who accept cards or digital payments. But please be sure to carry your warm clothes. Cute little fleece pullovers will not cut it. If you're susceptible to the cold, mittens and monkey caps don't seem like a bad idea (I wasn't equipped with this, but I really didn't mind enjoying a proper chill) I went here alone as a girl. Had lots to do, eat and generally be perfectly safe. Fell in love with this place. I have to be back again.
