One of the oldest temple in Kerala and it has kept its heritage to the maximum possible extend within the temple boundaries. Some more improvements can be done but no complaints. Not like any commercial temples which we normally come across in Kerala. Facilities near the temple is very good. Has paid dormitory facilities provided by the temple office and paid toilet and bath facilities which are very cheap and maintained good. The walk towards Papanasini river and the banks where the rituals are performed are kept to close to the nature. Kudos to that.
Peaceful place. The temple is famous for after death rituals. Road to this temple is through a forest and a delightful drive. Please drive carefully, and follow the sign boards and permitted speed limit, so that you don't cause trouble to the animals that may come across in the drive.
One of the most beautiful temples in Kerala. The route to this place is extremely blessed with natural beauty. If you are lucky, you may spot some wild animals as well. However, it is not safe to ride through those roads late at night or during early morning. We saw an elephant so close to the road at around 9 pm NB: Please confirm that the temple is open due to covid related restrictions.
Have been to Thirunelli temple quite a few times. Nestled between mountains, this temple is a sight of peace and Serene. Good number of constructions have come up already over last decade.. A must visit place before it gets more commercial.
I had been here around 30 years back to do my fathers rituals. Not for tourism. There is so much peace of mind here because of nature. planning to go again after Covid times. Only request is that kindly do not modernize the temple just like many other temples in Kerala. let it be the way it is..
