The South Zone Cultural Centre was established at Thanjavur, Medical college road, Thanjavur, to bring the indigenous cultures of the zone closer to the masses, especially to the rural populace and to the under privileged, and make them understand, experience, educated and enjoy various cultural events of our country. This will help the country to keep alive the cultural values and traditions come out from various vernaculars and keep it emotionally integrated. This is one of seven Cultural Zones in India defined and provided with administrative infrastructure by the Government of India and the Chairman is Governer of Tamilnadu. It is a place for developing and promoting the cultural heritage of south India. The environment is very good. The sculptures made and exhibited here are superb to watch. Once in an year or twice the cultural programs from various parts of south India are conducted here. Compound walls are painted with paintings of famous artists. Good place.
Nice place. Opened only on weekdays. Entrance fee 10/adult. It would be great if they open on weekends and holidays. Periodically they organize fantastic cultural festivals inviting artists from all over India.
