Sort of neglected step well in Jodhpur. It could be cleaned and would serve dual purpose of storage of real clean water and a tourist attraction as well. It can be accessed/ explored by foot or by a bike, bringing car will be tough and to park as well. No parking or other public facilities around. All around this place there are many tourist oriented eateries and cheap accommodation. You may find restaurants and hotels with boards in Russian, Chinese and other foreign languages. Rajasthan was among the first in the world to know and develop stepwells to store water which helped in summer and help maintain good water level and keep surroundings cool. Apathy towards our old knowledge makes us ignore it.
Good place for visitors
Mahila Bagh ka Jharia stepwell is located near Gulab Sagar lake Jodhpur Rajasthan India. Jharia step well not big not well maintained and clean. It is no history info on this site,. here are some pictures I took old ancient Indian stepwell.
The lovely, multi-layered and multi-hued structure appears in no guidebook, on any tour, or in hardly anyone’s consciousness. But it wasn’t always that way. Stepwells were sophisticated water-harvesting structures built throughout India starting around 600 CE.
Best sample of the marwad empire's creative arts on stone. It's also known as the Turji ka Jhalra. Hot spot for outsiders Traveller.
