I have been visiting the hospital since several years, for Opthalmic checkups as well as to meet Senior Surgeons for my own work. The doctors here are the most principled and ethical I know of in the Medical fraternity. If Senior most doctors are willing to sit with a 35 year old like me and share knowledge as well experience, it shows about their down to earth attitude. The systems, protocol are systematic. Although based in heavily congested Gokulpeth zone, when inside, you feel comfortable. The checkups and diagnostics are reasonably priced, given that the back end systems, Modular HYBRID Operation theatre, CSSD etc is all state-of-art, evolved and innovated with the changing times. Dr. PK Deshpande Sir as well as Dr. Mrs. Sulabha Deshpande Madam, both senior most surgeons in their respective fields in Nagpur, are extremely knowledgeable, helpful and down to earth. I have personally interacted with them on several occasions and their guidance is immensely helpful. Recommended strongly if you need an unbiased/ ethical and proper consultation.
My father had to go through bypass surgery and we had heard very good reviews about Dr. Deshpande from everyone and it was a fantastic experience. Below are a few points I would like to mention. 1. Very ethical staff, no hidden costs involved. they will tell you the charges at very start and will not charge even a Rupee more than that. 2. food provided for the patients is good too andthey take regularfeedback about the food from the patients. 3. The staff is very caring and they are always ready to help. I strongly recommend this hospital for any kind of heart related treatment.

Utterly Unprofessional behaviours by Dr Swapnil Deshpande. Visited him for second opinion on need for angiography for my father. After the discussion I asked about the reliability of tests, specially cardiac ones, in Nagpur hospitals. And to my amusement he got heavily Offended. As per him 99% doctors in Nagpur are honest and questioning their reliability is an offence. I'm still trying to understand how asking for reliability of a certain center/hospital put all Nagpur Medico fraternity under doubt. In fact by generalising my question Dr. Swapnil showed that I'd merit in my query. Plus he showed his immaturity by saying that now he will need to think twice before treating my father. For the record, I've 2 personal stories plus many more 3rd person ordeals to prove that medical industry in Nagpur lacks transparency and hence is unreliable. So as a medical service consumers, it is our right and duty to check the reliability of health service providers (doctor/hospitals). Nothing offensive about it, but Dr. Swapnil needs some more time to understand this basic. I wish him all the best to gain better knowledge to help people with more maturity. UPDATE: After above incidence at Deshpande hospital we went for the angiography in Kingsway hospital. Dr. Pathan, gem of a doctor, performed the procedure and guided us very professionally. He told that there is ONLY 1 block and can be cured by simple process of Angioplasty. We were quite relieved after talking with him. But soon arrived Dr. Swapnil Deshpande, who is a consultant in Kingsway too, and after seeing my father there he went through test reports. He started sharing his 'expert' views that there are 2 blockages and only by-pass surgery is the solution. I was probing if he was sure about 2 blockages and by-pass and he repeated his lies. He did this drama in front of my father which is totally unprofessional and insensitive behaviour. After hearing bypass my father broke down due to stress. Which doctor gives stress to a cardiac patient? So ironically it was Dr. Swapnil himself who proved that my lack of trust on Nagpur medicos is real. This incidence will go in Kingsway feedback form also. So patients please be aware of Dr. Swapnil.
