Very nice handicraft exhibition place. Good thing for Siliguri. The area is fast developing.
Kawa khali Urban Hat in the remote part of Siliguri by the side of river Mahananda has been developed by the State Govt.to promote the culture and preservation of urban small scale products through HastaSipaMela.The Central Govt.is funding the financial side .The varies artists selected to participate this utsab from various districts are allowed to draw daily expense D.A. and travel expenses T.A.as per rules incurred to join the Mela.It is a wonderful arrangement where cloth product of khadi and other local variaty of cloth,products of bambo cane ,jute etc are marketed.big size wooden furniture tea bush table s are worry to be collected.Carpets from various sector are available in very beautiful designs.Food stall dealing with snacks tea coffee in earthen pot is a prominent part.Moreover beautiful flower gardens in various sectors id a special item to mention.The advertisements of State Govt through posters only tell for C.M. Mamata Bandopadhyay without any mention of Central govt sanctio of funds at all-- an untold story,I mentioned here.
I visited it before the pandemic. It was really a nice spot. The display of various handicraft is very delighting. You can buy handicraft from around the country. But the only problem is with the location.
