This place is having a small zoo and a museum apartment from a banyan tree believed to be 800 years old. The access to the tree is rightly prohibited as the tree seems not in very good shape, pillars are being used to provide support to the branches. Authorities have constructed an elevated platform which provides decent view of the tree. The tiny zoo is kind of okay but can be visited. I really liked the ancient sculptures from various Hindu temples which are unfortunately been damaged by invaders. Overall, you should visit this place if you're around the area and have 3-4 hours at your disposal.
It's a decent place to visit with family and spend some time in the museum, the temple and the mini zoo. For those visiting from far away (like us from Hyderabad) please do note that the tree compound is closed for visitors and you can only watch it from an elevated platform that they have built. Recommend clubbing other locations (like Koilkonda fort and reservoir) if you are coming from a distance.
You had better read about this than go there to see. One, the traffic towards Mwhboobnagar is too heavy to have a peaceful ride and TWO, the Pillala Marri tree is INSIDE protected by a compound wall! Can't see anything excepting ONE quarter of a tree!
I am not sure about few years back. But currently they dont allow you to go near the tree. You just have to watch it from the fence. Apart from the tree, there is a museum and a small zoo just nearby which are okay. Not recommended if you visit this place just for tree.
Very nice place and historical museum gives lots of information right from BC. needs more maintenance. annexed science museum gives us how science is part of our daily life can be by the extraordinary explanation of the person present there.
