The Hospital has been recently upgraded as District Hospital and the contruction of new building has been completed. The Hospital is located in a cogested area. The deployment of additional staff as approved for Diateict Hospitals will suffice the needs of locals.

The Health setup in District Shopian needs proper attention in order to provide better healthcare facilities to the masses at gross root level. Productive efforts are being made to augment the health infrastructure in the District by incorporating the same in routine District Plans. District Shopian is divided into 02 Medical Blocks (Shopian & Keller) with a total number of 86 medical institutions viz-a-viz 01 District Hospital, 03 Sub District Hospitals, 09 PHCs, 06 Ads, 53 sub centers and 06 un-sanctioned health centers . During the year 2012-13 , the following health infrastructure comprising of 13 health institutions has been completed with a total cost of Rs. 26.49 crore summarized as under. National Rural Health Mission The flagship Programme National Rural Health Mission was started in the year 2005 the main objective of NRHM is to reduce infant Mortality rate and maternal Mortality rate . the main activities under NRHM include Janani Surakha Yojna (JSY) Jannani Shushu Suraksha Karyagam (SJJK). An amount of Rs. 3.49 crore was made available for various components of the programme and against which Rs. 3.17 crore was spent during the financial year 2012-13.
