Well equipped auditorium of Jorhat
Date - 22/02/2019 The District Library or The Pitambor Dev Goswami Auditorium Hall.. It is located in the heart of Jorhat Town, Atilagaon, Old Circuit House Road, opp to the PWD office.. It was established in 1955, but later on it was renamed after the renowned scholarist Sri Sri Pitambor Dev Goswami, as the Pitambor Dev Goswami Auditorium Hall by the government.. Sri Pitambor Dev Goswami was a reformer in the social nd spiritual life of the common people of Assam, born on 10th June of 1885 nd lived up to 20th October of 1962.. He started to practice monastic orders at an early age of Six of the Garamur Satra, where he was schooled in Sanskrit by Nityanandadeva Bhagawati Vidyavagish.. At the age of 21 , he got appointed as the Satradhikar of the Garamur Satra, after the death of Jogachandra Deva Satradhikar Goswami.. The Auditorium hall is really very big nd consist a land area of 5 bigha.. It has a seat capacity of 1075 nos nd has it's own Generator, Sound System etc etc.. The building is very big nd built in a specious format, the Auditorium hall is used for all types of events, dramas, functions which are being carried through out the year.. Not sure, but the books stock nd collection is not up to mark nd sufficient.. There are 5 different sections, i.e The Lending Section, The Reference Section, The Children Section, The Science nd Technology Section nd The Paper Section.. Here the Reference Section is fully facilitated with Air Conditioning nd with good seating facilities.. Now under this Library there are 10nos of Rural Libraries which were situated at- Kenduguri Kakajan Teok Marijhanji Pulibor Borhola Baligaon Chungi Lahing nd (Garmurh nd Bangaon) of Majuli Sub-division..
