I had a renal colic at 3.30am on train 16347 on the 5th of June 2018. I informed the TTE of the situation and he requested for medical help at Shoranur Jn (SRR) which was the next stop. Railway Police and other senior railway officials on duty were ready on the platform when my S10 coach stopped at SRR. They noted down my identification details. An extremely "slow moving" doctor came after almost ten to fifteen minutes, examined me in a manner not better than a third year MBBS student and told me with sleepy eyes that I should step down for "further medications". Accordingly I was taken to the SRR Railway Hospital by 5am. Railway Police accompanied me till the hospital, handed me over to the hospital staff and left. The kindness and sincerity of the Railway Policeman who accompanied me to the hospital was extremely appreciable. Even though I did not see the doctor ever again, the nurse on duty was so efficient, caring and compassionate that she took care of me really well. Myself being a doctor, I could request her what to administer when and she did everything accordingly. My severe pain subsided by around 7.30am and by the time she had gone and the next duty nurse had joined. The new nurse was kind enough to get me a black tea and I paid the hospital bill, thanked the entire staff and left the place. The hospital was clean and well maintained. I am so happy that I got utmost care and attention at SRR Railway Hospital. Kudos to the Railway Hospital Management who maintains it thus. I am extremely satisfied and surprised with the sincerity and dedication shown by each and every person who attended me, right from the TTE of the moving train to the entire staff at SRR Railway Hospital, EXCEPT the doctor who attended me. Thank you so so much everyone. Before I wind up, I should say that I have no words to thank the true disciple of Florence Nightingale who took care of me so well between 5am and 7am. I do not know her name, but being a doctor myself, I can frankly say that the country needs more dedicated nurses like this. Thank you sister.
