To relive childhood is such a nostalgic and beautiful moment. The red box was a constant childhood check-in (😃). And the joy of writing letters, pasting a stamp and dropping it in the red box was like Mission Accomplished. I still remember the absolute glee of seeing a postman with letters for us!! Thrilled to accomplish this task at 14,400ft!! The post office staff is so very warm and kind. We can buy merchandise from the shop and overlooking the post office is the splendid Himalayas!!

The place is very isolated but visited by many tourists. It is the highest post office. A short hike till the post office is required to reach. There is a postcard and a souvenir shop nearby road to buy postcards on spiti valley and magnets as a memory. Half an hour is more than enough to spend.

The ritual is to be completed of posting a postcard or letter to your people in India or world. One's wishes will bear Hikkim seal, a memory of life time. The post officer is always helpful within or beyond working hours making one's task easier. Carry your cards/envelopes prepared early and drop it in red post box 24 x 7. Else, invest in mundane of purchasing card from make shift stalls nearby, write, Run to buy stamp within working hours. In any way, this experience shall be part of one's journey irreplaceable.

I also sent a letter back to my home from there. It was a good experience there. Views was good from there, the post office was 80 meters down the road , it becomes a bit difficult to climb back because of high altitude.

The vibes are different there, the level of excitement you feel is totally above the stratosphere. The village is very peaceful and clean and the villagers are friendly and helpful as well. You can buy a postcard from the nearby shops/cafes and post them in the post box at the post office.
